“The Moment”
Course: Painting II
“The Moment” captures my grandmother sitting in a lobster shack, a familiar place in Maine my family go to every summer. In painting with a zoomed out lens, it is a portrait of both my grandmother, but also a portrait of the moment. As I watch my grandmother age, the reality hits me afresh that time doesn’t slow down for anyone. And while this may be so, I paint this in defiance – of how much I wish to freeze this moment.
